DAY 3 - AKAROA

With its very French clapboard buildings and Gallic street names, Akaroa - the gateway to Christchurch - always comes as a surprise to travellers who are used to a very British or Maori New Zealand.

A visit to Paua Bay Farm to see how the farm runs, a sheep shearing demonstration and active participation in the days activities.

Easy Akaroa - Scenic Drive
Welcome aboard the beautifully restored 1960's London Routemaster Double Decker Bus. Enjoy the old world charm of these iconic London buses as you enjoy a delightful sightseeing tour around Akaroa and the spectacular Banks Peninsula.

DAY 4 - STEWART ISLAND

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Stewart Island with this guided walk along the Rakiura Track to Little River providing you with an unforgettable insight into the diversity and beauty of this island sanctuary.

Paterson Inlet Cruise
Enjoy a leisurely cruise of beautiful Paterson Inlet as your local guide provides informative commentary of stunning surrounding scenery. Your cruise includes a visit to the historic whaler’s base at Prices Inlet and the hidden coves and unspoilt beaches of Paterson Inlet.

Ulva Island Guided Walk
Enjoy a guided walking tour of the enchanting Ulva Island, just a stone’s throw from Stewart Island, has long been recognised for its special beauty and abundance of birds and plant life. Keep your ears and eyes open for some of New Zealand’s native birds, such as the noisy kaka (forest parrot), the large native kereru wood pigeon whose wings make a distinctive sound almost like a buzz when they are in flight.

Pelagic Bird Cruise
Cruise out to the Mutton Bird Islands to view New Zealand fur seals and a variety of sea birds. Next, cruise back in to Paterson Inlet and keep your eyes out for dolphins before passing Ulva Island and a visit to Whalers Bay at Prices Inlet to view the remains of the former Norwegian Base.

Halfmoon Bay Highlights
Join your friendly local guide on a 90 minute tour exploring Oban Village and its surrounding bays. Highlights include Rakiura national park entrance at Lee Bay, Halfmoon and Horseshoe Bays and views of Paterson Inlet from Observation Rock.

DAY 5 - FIORDLAND NATIONAL PARK (SCENIC CRUISING)

Picton sits at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound and is surrounded by lush, rolling hills. It is the gateway to the South Island of New Zealand, and a launching pad to the many inlets and bays that make up Marlborough Sounds.

Enjoy a walk along The Queen Charlotte Track, cruise aboard “Sounds Adventure”, Marlborough Sounds, Mistletoe Bay, Peninsula Loop Track.

Iconic Wines of Marlborough
Visit three vineyards for tastings and stop at Makana, the boutique chocolate producer and watch as divine chocolates are handmade.

Best of the Marlborough Sound
Board your sightseeing launch for a cruise along the southern reaches of Queen Charlotte Sound. Here the densely wooded shore line is dotted with coves, bays and sandy beaches. The nutrient rich waters of the sound are home to seabirds, seals and dolphins.
